Creating your user account
1. Click "Search Document Database" on Thesavros' Homepage
2. Click "Subscribe Here"
3. Enter your personal data in the relevant fields.
--All fields marked with an asterisk are mandatory.
--Provide a valid e-mail address.
--The password requested is not your personal e-mail's password. It is only valid for the Thesavros website.
4. If you wish to clear all fields click "Reset".
5. When you finish entering all your data, click "Submit".

Logging in
1. Click "Search Document Database" on Thesavros' Homepage.
2. Enter the exact e-mail address you used to subscribe to Thesavros in the field "User Name".
3. Enter your subscription password in the field "Password".
4. Click the red "Log-in" button to the right.
5. In case you forgot your password, click "Forgot your password?
Click here" and follow the instructions.
Your password will be sent to you by e-mail.

Directions: First Step
1. Click the box corresponding to each author whose work(s) you wish to search or browse.
--Boxes properly selected will indicate a green 'check-mark'.
--You may select as many authors as you like.
--YOU MUST SELECT AT LEAST ONE AUTHOR TO CONTINUE.
2. 'Check' the box corresponding to the genre(s) you wish to search for those author(s).
--If uncertain as to which genres you wish to search, 'check' the box next to "Άγνωστη" at the top of the genres list.
--Boxes properly selected will indicate a green 'check-mark', just as for the authors' box.
--You may 'check' as many genres as you like.
--YOU MUST SELECT AT LEAST ONE GENRE TO CONTINUE.
3. Click 'Continue,' at the bottom of the page.

Directions: Second Step
1. If you wish to browse through the text of a specific work, click on the work's title which turns red.
2. Click the box corresponding to each work you wish to search, separated by author and listed alphabetically by title.
--Boxes properly selected will indicate a green 'check-mark'.
--You may select as many works as you like.
--YOU MUST SELECT AT LEAST ONE WORK TO CONTINUE.
3. In the empty boxes located underneath the label "Word search," type the word(s) or letter grouping(s) you wish to search.
--Type only one desired word or letter grouping per box.
--For results concerning works containing ALL typed words, select the 'AND' option.
--For results concerning works containing ANY of the typed words, select the 'OR' option.
--For a combination of these two options, select a combination of the 'AND' and 'OR' options.
'EXAMPLE
a Word search marked as such:

Pericles AND
Athens OR
Sparta
[BLANK]
[BLANK]

performs a search for
-Every appearance of the word "Pericles" in a work that also includes at least one appearance of the word "Athens," and vice versa.
-Every appearance of the word "Sparta," regardless of whether or not "Pericles" or "Athens" appear.
--YOU MUST TYPE AT LEAST ONE LETTER TO CONTINUE.
4. Select the "Search mode" for the Word search.
--Searching for an exact word, select "Exact word".
--Searching for a group of letters, specifically as they occur at the beginnings of words, select "Beginning of the word"
'Example: searching for 'in' under the search mode "Beginning of the word" would hypothetically return such results as 'income', 'injustice'.
--Searching for a group of letters, specifically as they occur at the ends of words, select "End of the word"
'Example: searching for 'ing' under the search mode "End of the word" would hypothetically return such results as 'reading', 'writing', 'playing'
--Searching for a group of letters, regardless of whether they occur at the beginning, middle or end of words, select "Part of the word"
'Example: searching for 'ing' under the search mode "Part of the word" would hypothetically return such results as 'ingenius,' 'writing', 'linguistics'
5. Select "Search paramaters" for Word search
--Selecting "Search without the use of accents", the search ignores all use of accents.
--Selecting "Case Insensitive", the search ignores all use of capitalization.
--Selecting "Search on Comments", we can search the notes of each work, as well as their original texts.
6. OPTIONAL:
Limit the time period included in the search.
--Type the earliest year in the box corresponding to 'From'.
--Type the latest year in the box corresponding to "To".
--For BCE dates, type a dash (-) in front of the year.
'Example: -600 means 600 BCE.
--The default setting for this option is all years.
7. OPTIONAL:
Select frequency of word use for your Word search

8. OPTIONAL:
Select distance between selected words in Word search if we have chosen the 'AND' option.
--Select "same line" for results of words appearing in the same line.
--Select "1 line" to "10 lines" for results that include the appearance of word within 1 to 10 lines.
'Example: Continuing the 'Pericles' AND 'Athens' examples above, a selection here of "5 lines" would yield results in which the two words were separated by a distance of no more than 5 lines.
--The default setting for this option is 'no restriction' for distance of separation
9. Click 'Search,' at the bottom of the page.

Browsing Search Results / Texts
1. Search Results are presented alphabetically by author and word and are split in series of 20 in each page.
2. You can browse through the results pages, using the page numbers or next and back arrows at the bottom of the page.
3. The number of the results matching your search are shown at the top of each page as well as the number of the results shown on the screen.
4. Clicking on any of the results will open a new browser window with more text containing your search, indicating the exact page,chapter, and line number -orange color.
5. The page of the browsing text gives bibliographic details about the work and
contains links to the scanned pages of the original book.
These links lead to other editions, translations, etc. A link is also provided -if available- to download the whole text (plain Unicode text) in zip compressed format.
The buttons above the text allow browsing the next/previous page, scrolling down/up to a specific number of lines and moving straight to the first/last line of text.
The numbers below the buttons refer to the first/last line shown in the window along with the total amount of text lines of the work.
6. Clicking on a linked work or the name of an author, opens a new browser window that contains the scanned book pages.
The page shown corresponds exactly to the typed text of the previous window.
The scanned pages give bibliographic details about the work and contain buttons that allow browsing to the next / previous / first / last or specific page.
If you wish to print the scanned page, you can do so by using your selected internet browser.
